Mauricio Umansky Reveals How She’d Do (Exclusive)

What To Know

  • Mauricio Umansky was a recruit on Season 5 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.
  • After voluntarily withdrawing from the course due to injury, he told TV Insider how he thinks estranged wife Kyle Richards would do on the show.
  • The former couple’s daughter, Alexia Umansky, is still running the course in Season 5.

Mauricio Umansky and daughter Alexia Umansky both took on the Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test course in Season 5. While Mauricio had to voluntarily withdraw due to an injury in Episode 4, Alexia is one of 10 recruits left hoping to pass the test.

But how would Kyle Richards, Alexia’s mom and Mauricio’s estranged wife, do on the show? “I don’t think she would do well,” Mauricio admitted to TV Insider.

While he acknowledged that Richards is “strong and she’s incredible,” he pointed out, “I don’t think Kyle even wants to [do it] or wants to challenge herself like that in terms of those conditions and the bugs and the animals and the heights and all that stuff. I just don’t think that’s something that’s in her.”

However, he noted, “I think if it was in her, like anything she does, she would crush it. But I don’t think it’s in her to do that.”

Mauricio took himself off the course after injuring his rib in a boxing mission against Matt Barnes. When he saw that he and the other recruits were going to have to attempt to complete a task involving tear gas, he feared the excessive coughing, paired with a cracked rib, might lead to a punctured lung.

Looking back on his journey, Mauricio said seeing Alexia’s “strength” and “resilience” was the best part. It’s been an emotional time on the course for Alexia, who shared a very personal story with the Directing Staff (DS). She then told her dad the story for the very first time on camera.

“It’s hard to talk about because you don’t know,” Alexia told Mauricio. “I was taken advantage of by a friend, and it’s not anything I ever wanted you to know. I kind of wanted to protect you guys from [that].”

As for the reason she kept the difficult memory a secret from her parents, Alexia explained, “Once you bring it to other people, it’s not just yours. It becomes everyone else’s concern. But I’ve definitely healed. I’ve come a long way since then.”
