Tommy and Tariq Sequel Premiere Date, Cast and More

It feels like Christmas. Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora) and Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) are taking on New York City together in Power: Legacy. Fresh off Tommy conquering Chicago’s drug game, he’s headed home to team up with Tariq, the son of his best friend, James “Ghost” St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick).

On June 4, STARZ announced Power: Legacy, the latest spinoff within the Power franchise. Given how Power Book IV: Force ended, we’re not surprised to hear about this next chapter for Tommy and Tariq.

“You thought this was all over?” Sikora asks in a video. “We just gettin’ started,” Rainey Jr. adds. From what we know about the cast to plot details, TV Insider has rounded up all the latest information about Power: Legacy.

What will Power: Legacy be about?

Power: Legacy will follow Tommy and Tariq following the events of the Power Book IV: Force finale. Per STARZ, the spinoff will see the “return of Tommy Egan to New York, where he partners with Tariq St. Patrick to take the city by storm.”

Back in January, Sikora told TV Insider that he was totally game for a Tommy and Tariq-focused spinoff given their complicated history.

“I’m game. The OG Power audiences are always going to be on Tommy’s side,” he said. “They’re going to follow everything he does. How Ghost expanded that world to a younger audience, how Tommy would be coming back to New York, to his hometown, but with all this other knowledge of this boss move and how to rule those streets, and Tariq really trying to elevate the game into maybe an international game… Let’s see where Brayden plays into all of this. It’s a pretty exciting idea.”

In the Power Book IV: Force series finale, Tariq makes a surprise appearance in Chicago to save Tommy. Later, Tariq and Tommy share a moment on a rooftop, where Tariq asks Tommy to come home to New York City and be his new partner in the drug game.

The official logline, per Deadline, reads: “It’s worth noting that Tommy’s pregnant girlfriend, Mireya (Carmela Zumbado), left Chicago to seek safety while Tommy handled his business. It was not revealed where she went, though Tommy believes she went to Mexico to seek refuge with family. The popular answer among fans has been that Mireya went to New York, perhaps to be with Tommy’s mom, Kate (Patricia Kalember).

Who is in the Power: Legacy cast?

Sikora and Rainey Jr. will be reprising their roles as Tommy and Tariq. Additional casting has not been announced, but it’s likely we’ll see Carmela Zumbado and Patricia Kalember back as Mireya and Kate. We wouldn’t be shocked to see Brayden (Gianni Paolo) pop up in Power: Legacy — and maybe even Tasha (Naturi Naughton).

“Power never dies, and this chapter is our biggest yet,” said executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson in a statement. “Fans have been waiting to see Tariq and Tommy together, and now they’re taking over New York City. Bringing Joseph and Michael back together is special; they’ve turned these characters into true icons of the Power universe.”

“The fans have spoken, and we listened,” Kathryn Busby, President of Original Programming at STARZ, said. “Power doesn’t die; it evolves with its audience, and for over a decade, the Power universe has remained at the forefront of culture. We’re thrilled to reunite Joseph and Michael to deliver a new chapter that fuses the franchise’s iconic legacy with bold, boundary-pushing storytelling.”

Gary Lennon will serve as the executive producer and showrunner of Power: Legacy. “I’m thrilled to reunite with STARZ to bring this latest chapter of the Power universe to fans and especially proud to be entrusted with continuing Tommy and Tariq’s story as showrunner on Power: Legacy,” he said. “It’s going to be electrifying to see if these two men can share the city, the game, and the intoxicating drug known as POWER.”

When will Power: Legacy premiere?

Power: Legacy doesn’t have a premiere date yet, but the spinoff series will likely premiere in 2027. STARZ hasn’t announced whether or not production has started yet.

What about the other Power spinoffs?

Power Book III: Raising Kanan, which follows young Kanan Stark (Mekai Curtis), will return for a fifth and final season on June 12. Power: Origins, which centers around young Ghost (Spence Moore) and Tommy (Charlie Mann), is currently in production. The prequel series will have an 18-episode first season.
