The Last of Us episode 8 viewership hits another series high. Adapted from the popular PlayStation game of the same name, The Last of Us was an instant hit when it premiered in January and in the following weeks, has proven to be HBO’s next prestige series. The post-apocalyptic drama starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey delivered another strong episode 8, as season 1’s penultimate episode introduced the preacher David (Scott Shepherd) and James (played by original Joel actor Troy Baker).

Now, The Last of Us episode 8, titled “When We Are In Need,” appears to have set a new series high in viewership, According to Warner Bros. Discovery, an impressive 8.1 million viewers tuned into Sunday night’s episode on HBO and HBO Max, based on Nielsen and first-party data, beating out the previous series high set by The Last of Us episode 4. The penultimate episode’s record audience marks an amazing 74 percent increase in viewership from the series premiere.
