A new album by Barbra Streisand, ‘The Secret Of Life: Partners, Volume 2,’ has come out to an almost unanimously good review. Streisand herself took to social media to express her excitement in working with a selection of timeless artists and some of the fresh voices in the industry. Streisand almost simply put: I hope the people will love it as much as we loved making this album.

Following the ‘Partners’ album and taking the concept further is this album; it is essentially a mix of the past and the present worlds. Using digital parlance, the very high-key mixtures emphasize her own trademark style as combined with other artists so much with even a hint of counterpoint to the volumetric modulation of vocal radiance. The album’s title track, ‘The Secret of Life,’ sets down to convey how far-reaching is the idea of cherishing life’s smaller moments throughout the album.
All of a sudden, reviewers started showering their praise for the project. “Pure class and beauty in your voice, choice of songs and choice of partners. From a fan since 1979,” exclaimed one. Another said, “I cannot tell you how happy I am to hear my two all-time-favorite singers sing my all-time-favorite JT song.” One could almost feel the excitement in the air, with most calling it a “masterpiece” and thanking Streisand for being timeless.
Few exceptions were there, who said they did not like it. A handful found it boring and dull. One said, “Listened to the first ten songs in full then about a minute of each of the remaining songs. Sadly, I found it a very boring album; all songs sounded the same.” Someone else agreed, “She needs someone other than Asanafief? Terribly boring producer.” Yet, by far, the overwhelming majority showered it with praise and gratitude.
The international fans made their voices heard: “Une voix, une interprétation… tout en laissant la place à de grands artistes. Bravissimo!” cried one French fan. From Ukraine, an admirer added, “We love you, funny girl! Hugs from Ukraine.” With salutations coming in from Brazil, France, and elsewhere, the far-reaching influence of Streisand has been demonstrated.
Streisand’s presence linking up generations is evident in the commentaries submitted. The younger generation was excited about the artists’ collaborations; older ones reminisced about her career over decades. Another quite lovely comment reads, “Another triumph. Joy and entertainment as only BARBRA can accomplish.”
This album has added another jewel in Streisand’s already illustrious career. With an unmistakable voice and an uncanny ability to pick the appropriate collaborators to work with, she remains a captivating charm all over the world. ‘The Secret Of Life: Partners, Volume 2’ is winning the majority, be it old-time fans or new.
One may well claim, judging by the comments, that music-wise, Streisand was relief, joy, and inspiration. Even the skeptical amongst them could not deny the power of her voice in the album. For most, the album was just another reminder of why Barbra Streisand remains a living legend in music.
