Adria Arjona Reveals Hilarious Behind The Scenes Secrets From Andor Audition

Arjona has the classic behind-the-scenes stories regarding her audition for the Star Wars series Andor. On Jimmy Kimmel Live, she laid out a murky experience filled with nerves due to COVID protocols and the extreme secrecy surrounding the Star Wars world.

Arjona went on to narrate one of her “first” moments with co-star Diego Luna during the hectic auditioning days in London. Since the pandemic was just at its beginning and nothing really had been said or established, the social cues were a bit mixed: both wanted to hug but hesitated awkwardly, classic COVID confusion!

Things just got even more stressful after that. Arjona revealed she performed the first scene for Tony Gilroy, the showrunner, for the series; then there was a complete silence. No notes, no feedback. Any actor would categorize it as the worst sign. She thought she had blown it there and then. Then Gilroy kicked Diego Luna out of the room and asked her to do another take. She just kept messing up and getting called out on it, and then she would do it all over again. The pressure was REAL.

Eventually, after a really long pause, Gilroy said, “Welcome to Star Wars, kid.” That was the moment, the next 10 minutes turned her life upside down. Now hiding it all would be the tough part. Arjona was so paranoid that something might leak to the press, that she insisted that she had to speak in code even with her driver. Tell Mommy? Nope. If the Mommy knew, then the whole island of Puerto Rico would’ve known the ending.

The next topic was brought up about all the security measures that Lucasfilm went to in order to avoid any spoilers. They didn’t even allow the actors to hold the script in hard copy; they had to read their lines on locked iPads. Arjona had a few cracked moments, though, when she would sneak photographs of the scripts and proceeded to print them. Diego Luna was horrified to hear about it, but Arjona would have no part in it. “Stellan Skarsgård did it too!” she said.

Good thing the commentators could take the chaos energy. One user exclaimed how Puerto Rican Adria is (whole mood), another said that this must be one of the best late-night segments ever, some couldn’t get over how cute Arjona and Luna were, with one just writing, “Bix & Andor 👏❤️”—referring to their characters.
