HBO Max has canceled its order of 24 new episodes of The Boondocks, Deadline reports. The Warner Media streaming platform had originally ordered two seasons of the animated series from creator Aaron McGruder and Sony Pictures Animation back in 2019.

The Boondocks series—based on a comic strip first printed in The Source magazine—launched in 2005 on Adult Swim, Cartoon Network’s late night adult animation programming block. It starred Regina King, John Witherspoon, and Cedric Yarbrough, and included voice cameos from Ghostface Killah, Xzibit, Yasiin Bey, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, and Lil Wayne. The show aired for four seasons, the last of which aired in 2014 without McGruder’s involvement. That year, Adult Swim released a mixtape to coincide with the show’s final season featuring Killer Mike, the Alchemist, and more.
