The National’s Bryce Dessner has detailed his new soundtrack for the upcoming absurdist comedy She Came to Me starring Peter Dinklage. Out September 29th via Warner Classics and UNIGRAM, the album features an original song from Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa called “Addicted to Romance.”
According to a press release, She Came to Me director Rebecca Miller said the soundtrack came from an “intimate process” of collaboration with Dessner, who boarded the film during its earliest stages. This was especially important since the album had to incorporate two on-screen operas from the movie. Conducted by André de Ridder, the score features contributions from French pianist Katia Labèque and vocals from Greer Grimsley, Alicia Hall Moran, Isabel Leonard, and Emmett O’Hanlon.
In a statement, Dessner described the film as “one of the most rewarding and creative experiences I have had” and said it allowed him to “make the music that I wanted to make, and so it’s the first film where the music really resembles my music for the concert hall.” Miller added, “The collaborative nature of film is what’s so exciting. I can write a book by myself but with this film, I was able to work with Bryce’s brilliance. There was a challenge channel between us, and we shared in each other’s creativity.”

Meanwhile, “Addicted to Romance” was written by Springsteen with production by Ron Aniello and Dessner, the latter of whom said the song helped him achieve a “lifelong dream.” We’ll have to wait to hear the track, but first single “Julian and Tereza” is available now. Stream it below.
She Came to Me stars Dinklage as an opera composer with a serious case of writer’s block who gets involved in a tryst with a tugboat captain (Marisa Tomei) after being encouraged by his wife (Anne Hathaway) to find inspiration in a stranger.
