Brockhampton Announce Indefinite Hiatus, Say Coachella 2022 Is Their Final

Brockhampton announced today that they are going on an indefinite hiatus. They’ve canceled all of the 2022 world tour dates they announced last year. The band’s representative noted that Brockhampton have only three more live show commitments: the O2 Academy Brixton in London on February 7 and both weekends of Coachella 2022. “They invite their fans to come celebrate the end of an era with them at these final performances,” the statement reads.

Brockhampton began after group leader Kevin Abstract posted a note on the forum KanyeToThe asking if anyone wanted to start a band. Initially named Alive Since Forever, the group later rebranded as Brockhampton. The many members who have been in the collective include vocalists Ameer Vann, Joba, Matt Champion, Meryln Wood, Dom McLennon, and Bearface, as well as producers Romil Hemnani, Jabari Manwa, and Kiko Merley.

In 2017, after the collective moved to Los Angeles, Brockhampton starred in the Viceland series American Boyband and released the three-album Saturation series. The Saturation II song “Gummy” was named one of Pitchfork’s “100 Best Songs of 2017.”

Shortly after signing with RCA in 2018, Vann was removed from the group after facing allegations of sexual misconduct. Brockhampton canceled a tour to “regroup” following a somber performance at Boston Calling, and, one month later, they made their public return on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. It was their late night television debut.

Brockhampton returned later that year with the record Iridescence—their first and only album to go No. 1 on the Billboard albums chart. In 2019, just months after Abstract released the Jack Antonoff–produced solo album Arizona Baby, the band released Ginger. Brockhampton’s last album Roadrunner: New Light, New Machine was released in 2021. The album featured contributions from Danny Brown, A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ferg, Charlie Wilson, and Jpegmafia.
