Fox Nation has released the trailer for Houdini: Back From the Dead, its first multi-episode production made entirely with AI-generated imagery. The upcoming three-episode show will premiere ahead of the 100th anniversary of Harry Houdini’s death. It will depict an AI-generated version of Houdini as a documentary interview subject, while also showing significant moments from his life.
Houdini: Back From the Dead is produced by Red Rock Films, a production company that specializes in “responsible AI production.” For the show’s development, the company licensed over 400 historic photographs and archival footage to use as source material. According to the company, human actors worked as stand-ins, while AI was used to alter their appearance. Humans also wrote the show’s scripts, with the contents being verified by archival researchers and experts.

What do we see in the Houdini: Back From the Dead trailer?
The trailer opens with the AI-generated Harry Houdini addressing viewers. “Through the magic of artificial intelligence, I will return,” the magician says. AI-generated footage shows moments from Houdini’s life as he narrates over them, including shots of him performing various stunts. The trailer ends with him promising the audience his “last performance” ahead of the 100th anniversary of his death. The series will explore several incidents from Houdini’s life, including a childhood accident, his relationship with his mother and brother, and his “crusade against fraudulent spiritualist mediums.”
Besides Houdini, several of his acquaintances and loved ones have also been recreated through generative AI. These include his wife Bess, family members, and business associates. The series will also show them speaking words drawn from their diaries, books, correspondence, and other historical writings.
“Fox Nation is breaking new creative ground by using emerging technology to bring one of history’s most fascinating figures to life for a modern audience,” said Fox Nation president Lauren Petterson. “We’re proud to showcase a new form of historical storytelling that allows viewers to experience Houdini’s remarkable life in his own words, while remaining rooted in extensive research and historical accuracy.”
Houdini: Back From the Dead will premiere on October 14, 2026, on Fox Nation.
