Priyanka Chopra’s Plunging Halter Dress Draws Comparisons to Marilyn Monroe

After attending the 2023 Met Gala on the arm of husband Nick Jonas, Priyanka Chopra stuck around New York City for the promotion of her new spy series “Citadel.” The 40-year-old actress and mom of daughter Malti stepped out for an appearance on “The View” wearing a plunging white halter dress reminiscent of the iconic look Marilyn Monroe made famous in “The Seven Year Itch.” Chopra’s number is courtesy of Proenza Schouler — replete with an open neckline that nearly reaches the navel and a twisted back that adds dimension. The design retails for $1,190.

Though Monroe memorably slipped into a pair of strappy white sandals, Chopra’s stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray sourced white pointed-toe boots for the star, and the outfit was further accessorized with hammered gold hoops, diamond stacking rings, a gold ring with a green gemstone, white cat-eye sunglasses, and a structured leather box bag. Chopra opted for the popular milk-bath manicure, and her auburn-brown hair was parted at the center and styled into loose waves that bounced as she twirled for the cameras.

For event wear, Chopra tends toward sultrier styles, having recently chosen a velvet Sportmax dress with cutouts and a knotted asymmetrical hemline for date night with Jonas; a scarlet satin Vivienne Westwood corset gown for the “Citadel” premiere in London; and a metallic gold dress with a similar plunge and velvet bow for an April 3 screening. At the highly anticipated Met Gala, she debuted a Valentino gown with a hip-high slit, a dramatic ruffled cape that framed her figure, and white gloves in contrast to the voluminous look, which was meant to pay homage to the late Karl Lagerfeld. Valentino also dressed Jonas, though he took a textural departure in a leather blazer and patent platform loafers.
