“I can say for certain, when you know, you know!” Annie Major, head of VIP and influence, North and South America at Saint Laurent, says as she recalls the evening she met her husband Alex James, a finance professional. “Alex was college friends with one of my childhood friends, and I know she talked both of us up to one another. My girlfriends were key players in getting us together—they coordinated a casual night out with him and his group of friends so we could meet.” Their friends were right to plan a meet-cute for the future couple, and immediately, Major knew that James was the one.
As the couple dated, skiing became a special part of their relationship. “I grew up skiing and fell out of it when I went to college,” Major shares. “Alex reintroduced me to skiing when we started dating and would take the reins in planning ski trips.” After many ski excursions together, it was a trip to Aspen planned by James that led to their engagement. “We knew we were heading to Aspen that winter, and being the planner he is, it was no surprise to me that he organized everything. When we arrived in Aspen, he had coordinated a snowshoeing excursion at the top of Aspen mountain. Afterward, at the very top, he proposed,” Major says. “We called family that evening but waited a few days before sharing with friends. It was the best enjoying the moment in our own little bubble. I love that we will always be able to go back to that exact location and remember the trip we had!”
Once engaged, the couple settled on Old Naples along the Floridian coast for the wedding destination. The ceremony was held at the bride’s family home and was followed by a reception at Campiello, a restaurant Major grew up frequenting and a special place the couple spent many romantic dates nights at together. The wedding, which was held on a weekend in December 2023, had some unpredictable moments, including rainfall that led to some last-minute planning changes. The intimate wedding included memorable touches, such as a brunch planned by the mother of the bride, bagpipes that led the couple down the aisle, and multiple pieces from Saint Laurent for the bridal look, among more special details for the newlyweds’ celebration.
“Two days before the ceremony, my mom and hostess extraordinaire hosted a ‘brunch with the bride’ at home.”
“It was the first time seeing all of my girlfriends and family that traveled near and far—I clearly had the best time!”
“Pickles, my parents’ toy poodle, also dressed for the occasion!”
“I wore this cutesy feather set from 16Arlington and René Caovilla heels.”
“My hair was sprinkled with vintage white floral appliqués that I had collected.”

“Our welcome party was held at an Old Naples favorite, the courtyard at Ridgway.”
“I wore a Carolina Herrera dress, Saint Laurent heels, and Jennifer Behr earrings. It’s no surprise how much I loved putting all my looks together for the weekend.”
“It was so exciting and overwhelming (in the best way) having so many people we love all in one spot.”

“I was so keen on looking and feeling like myself on my wedding day. There’s so much potential for pageantry in the wedding world, and I wasn’t interested in any of it.
“I originally planned to have a dear friend and celebrity makeup artist Ashlee Glazer do my makeup. It turned out that she wasn’t able to make our wedding date but gave me the confidence to do my own makeup under her professional guidance! We did a practice dry run the week before. The morning of, I sat down with her on FaceTime in front of me, and she walked me through the process step-by-step. It was honestly the best!”
“For hair, I pulled it back myself, and the amazing team from Adorn Artistry sculpted my bun—easy!”
“I always knew I was going to wear Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello on my wedding day. I went with a timeless column silhouette with tie-back [details] from the fall/winter 2022 collection. My shoes, of course, were also Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello—glittery little mules that paired perfectly with the gown. The gloves were custom-made by Kerry Parker, and my tennis bracelet was a wedding gift from my parents. I wore my mom’s gold bee and pearl earrings, which my sister also wore on her wedding day. My late Grandma B loved bees, so this was a little nod to her.”
“I got ready at home with my mom and my sister.”
“Naples, Florida, is one of our favorite places. We have a lot of memories there and both have family ties, so it quickly felt like the perfect place to celebrate with our people. It’s such a happy place. We wanted the weekend to be a big celebration with an extremely intimate feel.”

“We laughed, and we cried, and I was able to sneak in a few secret vows that Alex didn’t know about. It felt authentically us.”
“A bagpipe led us down the aisle. Cue tears!”
“Walking down the aisle with my dad is a memory that will last me 100 lifetimes.”
“We were married in my family’s home surrounded by our closest family and friends.”
“We had originally planned to have our ceremony and dinner outside but had to quickly adjust plans the week of with inclement weather forecasts—no one had ever seen Florida rain like that in December!”

“I met Blair Breitenstein when I started my career at Oscar de la Renta. She is so chic and talented, and I’ve always, always adored her work. When I reached out to her to do illustrations for our save-the-date and invite, I really wasn’t sure if she’d want to do something like this. She happily agreed (I was so excited!), and we pretty quickly went back and forth on ideas. They came out perfectly and captured the essence of the weekend.”
“Campiello is one of our favorite restaurants in Old Naples. I grew up going there, and we’ve had many a date night. It was super important to us that our guests would have good food and drink, and we knew Campiello would deliver exactly that.”
“Guess my favorite cocktail.”
“I wanted the space to feely twinkly and romantic, hence the hundreds of candles!”
“My dinner and party look was a custom Alexia María minidress with their bow convertible skirt. I’m definitely more of a minidress girl than a gown girl (and I hate dancing in a gown), so this look felt very me.My shoes were Manolo Blahnik Hangisis and crystal drop earrings by Jennifer Behr.”

“We were so excited after the ceremony to let loose and eat, drink, and dance with our favorite people. Nothing better.”
Heartfelt speeches were a poignant part of the evening.
“The speeches were absolutely perfect—continued laughter and tears!”
“We knew our people would have no problem getting the party started. We truly all danced the night away!”

“Hands down, the very best thing about our wedding weekend was that after all the dust settled we were married.”
