An authorized Ol’ Dirty Bastard documentary is set to air on A&E, the first official documentary on the late Wu-Tang Clan rapper. Directed by Sam and Jason Pollard, the two-hour special will broadcast at 9 p.m. Eastern and Pacific on August 25 before becoming available on demand the next day.
The documentary-makers had access to Ol Dirty Bastard’s parents, bandmates, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah, wife Icelene Jones, son Bar-Sun Jones, and others—including Mariah Carey—a press release notes. Jones said, “I am so happy to have brought this documentary about my husband’s life to the screen.… Like all of hip-hop, I have missed his energy. This project has let me know that he is alive and well in all of our hearts.”
The documentary, originally announced in 2022, is produced by Pulse Films, Four Screens, and the Ol’ Dirty Bastard Estate in association with GroupM Motion Entertainment.
