Jennifer Aniston has slammed J.D. Vance after comments of the vice presidential candidate mocking “childless cat ladies” recently resurfaced on the internet.
During a 2021 appearance on Tucker Carlson’s now-canceled Fox News show, Vance said the country was being run by Democratic “corporate oligarchs” who had been chosen by a “bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made, and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable too.”
Vance continued: “You look at [Vice President] Kamala Harris, [Transportation Secretary] Pete Buttigieg, [Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.)]: The entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children, and how does it make any sense that we’ve turned our country over to people who don’t really have a direct stake in it?” (Editor’s Note: Harris is the stepmother of two children through her marriage to second gentleman Douglas Emhoff, while Buttigieg and his husband, Chasten, announced the birth of twins in September 2021.)
Aniston reposted Vance’s comments to her Instagram on Wednesday night, writing as a caption: “I truly can’t believe this is coming from a potential VP of The United States.”
The Friends and Morning Show star then added: “I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day. I hope she will not need to turn to [in vitro fertilization] as a second option. Because you are trying to take that away from her, too.”
Aniston has been open in the past about her struggles with getting pregnant, revealing that she underwent unsuccessful rounds of in vitro fertilization. For his part, Vance voted against the Right to IVF Act, which would have protected accessibility and affordability of in vitro fertilization (IVF) services nationwide, went it went before the US Senate in June 2024.
