It’s always a good time when the Interview With the Vampire cast comes to the TV Insider office. When we knew Louis (Jacob Anderson) was getting into photography in Season 2, and when we knew this stellar cast would be paying us a visit, the wheels in my head started turning.
The Interview With the Vampire fans often refer to the characters as family (a sick and twisted family, but a family nonetheless!). Having recently come into possession of my mother’s old film camera, a Canon AE-1 Program (the second generation of the 35mm Canon AE-1), I was keen to get some film shots of Anderson, Sam Reid, Assad Zaman, Delainey Hayles, and Eric Bogosian while they were in the TV Insider studio. I wanted the cast to take them themselves as a nod to Louis’ Parisian pastime. What I didn’t know was the connection between the Canon AE-1 and Interview With the Vampire.
As fate would have it, the Canon AE-1 was first put on the market in April 1976, the same month and year that Anne Rice‘s Interview With the Vampire novel was published. Clearly, this was kismet. I told the cast of this connection, handed the camera to Anderson, and they were off.
Here are all of the film photos of the stars of AMC‘s Interview With the Vampire, taken by their co-stars on a camera that’s been around as long as the story that inspired it all. Check out a behind-the-scenes video (shot in part on a Sony Handycam HDR-CX190) of their time with us, above.
