Or maybe he just didn’t want to. It takes a long time for Leclercq to even get into the central motif everyone thinks of in Wages of Fear, the trucks transporting nitro across treacherous terrain. Most of the rest — and even a big chunk of that part! — is more Leclercq meat and potatoes: Sullen French dudes shooting at each other. Leclercq is a solid action director, but he’s not a great match for suspenseful material.
