Donald Glover’s Lando will no longer be a series at Disney+, but a movie developed by George Lucas’ Lucasfilm, per The Hollywood Reporter. Glover’s brother and collaborator, Stephen, announced the pivot during an appearance on the Pablo Torres Finds Out podcast on Thursday (September 14). Production is currently on hold due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
Lando expands upon the story of the character Glover played in 2018’s Solo: A Star Wars Story. Disney first announced a spin-off series for Lando Calrissian at an investors day in December 2020. Glover is developing the project with his brother, Stephen Glover. It was announced in July that the duo would take over from Haunted Mansion’s Justin Simien.
Donald Glover has previously helmed the award-winning series Atlanta, which Stephen also executive produced. Donald Glover’s limited series Swarm—a stan odyssey starring Dominique Fishback and featuring Chloe Bailey, Billie Eilish, and Paris Jackson—debuted on Prime Video this year.
