Anne Rice’s The Talamasca Greenlit by AMC

AMC has greenlit the third series in its ongoing Anne Rice Immortal Universe, with a new drama tentatively named Anne Rice’s The Talamasca.

The series, which is working under a working title as of now, will feature “the men and women responsible for tracking and containing the witches, vampires, werewolves and other creatures scattered around the globe.”

The secret society has been featured in several of Rice’s novels, including Vampire Chronicles and Lives of the Mayfair Witches, both of which have also been turned into live-action adaptations on AMC.

What do we know about Anne Rice’s The Talamasca?

Oscar-nominated John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side) and Mark Lafferty (The Right Stuff) will write the series, and also serve as co-showrunners and executive producers on the upcoming project. Hancock will also direct various episodes for the series.

Season 1 of the series will consist of six episodes, and will premiere on AMC and AMC+ sometime in 2025. Production on the project is scheduled to begin later this year. No current casting information is available on the upcoming show.

In a statement on the upcoming series, President of Entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks Dan McDermott praised the show, and said the studio was excited to begin work on it.

“This is a story we’ve been developing and wanting to tell from the earliest moments of this franchise, focused on a fascinating and compelling secret society that has already appeared in both of our existing Anne Rice series, The Talamasca,” said Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks. “As with all of these shows, we are thrilled to have such a high level of talent involved, represented here by John Lee Hancock and Mark Lafferty, and of course working closely with producer Mark Johnson as the creative head of our Anne Rice Immortal Universe.”
