Aerosmith Retiring! Reveals Steven Tyler Can No Longer Sing!

Aerosmith won’t be able to finish their Peace Out Farewell Tour.

On Instagram Friday, the classic rock band wrote a message for their fans. In the post, the band made up of Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer, and Brad Whitford thanked their fans and followers for supporting them from their debut all the way back in 1970. Then they broke the news — their frontman wouldn’t be able to recover from his recent vocal injury.

In the post, the band revealed the 76-year-old can no longer sing and thus they’ll all be permanently retiring from the stage:

“We’ve always wanted to blow your mind when performing.  As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other.  He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury.  We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision – as a band of brothers – to retire from the touring stage.”

The group told fans they could get refunds if they’d already bought tickets to one of their upcoming shows, as now all the remaining dates are canceled. They wrapped up their post by telling their fans to “Dream On”:

“A final thank you to you – the best fans on planet Earth.  Play our music loud, now and always. Dream On. You’ve made our dreams come true.”

We would be remiss if we didn’t mention… This news comes on the tail-end of some horrific accusations against Steven, who was slapped with multiple lawsuits for alleged sexual assault and inappropriate behavior with a minor as young as 16. The lawsuit was dismissed in February, but it was clear even the version he’s always told of the story was pretty problematic. Aerosmith are just of another time, back when teens running away to go on tour with rockstars was something we kind of took for granted. It makes sense they’re finally ready to say goodbye.
