Adult Swim reveals Rick and Morty: The Anime trailer

If you ever longed for Rick and Morty to embrace even more stylized animation, then Adult Swim has heeded the call. Rick and Morty: The Anime will premiere on Adult Swim on August 15th.

Directed by Takashi Sano, the 10-episode series is an expansion of the Rick and Morty universe with anime-style animation. “Of all the multiverses, one of them had to be anime,” goes the opening of Rick and Morty: The Anime’s trailer, which shows the characters from Rick and Morty embarking on intergalactic journeys, fighting anime-style battles, and resuming their usual multiverse antics.

The show’s official logline reads, “In this 10-episode anime series from the world of Rick and Morty, Rick relaxes in a pseudo-world between multiverses, Summer helps Space Beth fight the evil Galactic Federation, and Morty falls in love with a mysterious girl who happens to be an atemporal being.” Watch the trailer for Rick and Morty: The Anime below.

Rick and Morty: The Anime first premieres in English on August 15th at midnight on Adult Swim, and the next day on Max. The Japanese language version will premiere on August 17th at midnight on Adult Swim’s action/anime programming block, Toonami. In celebration of the new series, Adult Swim is rolling out what they call the “Rickmobile” and “Mortymobile” for an “ANIME-rican Tour;” fans will get the chance to watch never-before-seen episodes, score exclusive merch, and more. Meanwhile, the non-anime version of Rick and Morty just completed its seventh season at the end of 2023 — the first without original creator and voice actor Justin Roiland.
