King Charles Thrown For A Loop As MORE Musicians Reportedly

The forthcoming coronation of King Charles III isn’t far off now. It’s set for May 6 at Windsor Castle across the pond. But things have NOT been going well with booking stars!

As we’ve been reporting, superstars like Adele and Ed Sheeran have already turned down King Charles’ request for them to perform live at his coronation. Not having either of those two world-famous singers on hand is unfortunate for the late Queen Elizabeth‘s son and royal heir. But still, officials had been trying to make do with other musical acts all the same.

But now, according to a new report in The Sun this weekend, the King is hitting even more snags in booking a headliner! Doesn’t anybody want this gig??

Royal insider Hannah Hope took to the pages of the news outlet on Saturday with a surprising note about how difficult it has been for His Majesty to get a singer to commit to the May 6 event. According to Hope, multiple major acts in addition to the aforementioned Adele and Sheeran have spurned the King and his court!

That includes Robbie Williams, who she confirms “bailed” on the royal gig, as well as Sir Elton John, the Spice Girls, and former One Direction frontman Harry Styles. That’s right — all of ’em apparently said ‘no thank you’ to King Charles’ May coronation ask!

Brutal!!!

According to Hope’s reporting, those last three — Elton, Harry, and the Spice Girls — claimed they were “unable to make time in their crazy-busy schedules” for the May regal reveal. An insider who said this about the scheduling snafu:

“Organizers are working against the clock to pull together an exciting line-up but have hit a series of challenges. Elton John was top of Charles’ list but due to his European tour, which sees him performing in Germany the Friday before then again soon after the Windsor concert, he isn’t able to make the dash to the UK work. Meanwhile, man-of-the-moment Harry Styles is also tied up with touring and unable to get key band members together as they’ll be on much-needed downtime.”

Sure, maybe that’s all true! There’s no question these are all super-busy artists who are very much in demand. But still, it’s not a great look for King Charles to have to wade through a list of celebs until one finally takes the royal bait.

To be fair to the royal family, they aren’t being left empty-handed. Take That artists Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, and Howard Donald are already due to perform on May 6. Kylie Minogue, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and American soul singer Lionel Richie are on the docket, too. But King Charles still needs a headliner! And for now, the royal fam is looking hard at… Olly Murs?

The Dance With Me Tonight singer is supposedly being seriously considered for the headlining gig, according to Hope. She notes event organizers are “crossing their fingers” that he can do the show. And while Murs is currently reportedly “in talks” to sign up for it, an insider optimistically stated:

“Olly has such stage presence and a huge fanbase, he’d be a great addition.”

Hey, no slight at all to Olly Murs. He makes some fun music! But, man… to go from Adele, Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles, or Elton freakin’ John (who’s a knight!!!) to Olly is kind of a step down. Just saying!
