Josh Duggar won’t be getting out of prison on his originally scheduled date.
As you most likely know, the former 19 Kids and Counting star was found guilty in December 2021 on two counts of receiving and possessing child pornography. He was later sentenced to 151 months — or almost 12.5 years — in federal prison, meaning he’d leave in August 2032. However, it looks like Josh will be serving time in jail for a little longer.

According to Us Weekly on Friday, the 35-year-old reality star’s prison release date was extended by nearly two additional months. His release date is now in October 2032. Why the sudden change? Well, the reason for extending his prison sentence is unknown. The Federal Bureau of Prisons are also remaining tight-lipped on the situation, simply telling KTLA:
“To the extent non-public responsive records exist, without consent, proof of death, or an overriding public interest, disclosure of records would invade another individual’s personal privacy.”
Hmm…
Josh is currently serving out his sentence at the Federal Correction Institute Seagoville in Texas, where he is required to follow strict rules, including no unsupervised visits with his and his wife Anna Duggar’s seven children. And he already broke one of the rules during his sentence. As The Us Sun previously reported, the TLC personality was allegedly caught with a contraband cell phone and thrown into solitary confinement.
Not only are inmates generally not allowed to have phones inside federal prisons, but that’s the reason he’s in prison in the first place after investigators found disturbing explicit images of children. Plus, Josh is not even allowed to “possess, use, or have access to a computer or any other electronic device that has Internet or photograph storage capabilities without prior advance notice and approval of the U.S. Probation Office” once he’s radiated. So the fact that he had a phone on him while still in prison is a major issue and concern! Could this possibly be the reason his sentence was pushed back? Unfortunately, we won’t be getting the answer as to why he is remaining in jail for another two months — at least, for now. But certainly, no one would complain that he’s remaining behind bars for longer after everything he has done!
