The 2023 Newport Jazz Festival lineup has been announced. Herbie Hancock, Kamasi Washington, Thundercat, Big Freedia, Domi & JD Beck, Cautious Clay, Jon Batiste, and more are scheduled to perform during the three-day event, which will return to Fort Adams State Park in Rhode Island from August 4-6. Diana Krall, Samara Joy, Pedrito Martinez, Butcher Brown, and others will take the stage, while Anderson .Paak will appear under his DJ Pee .Wee alias. Arooj Aftab, Vijay Iyer, and Shahzad Ismaily will also perform together as a trio. Additional performers will be announced at a later time. Check out the 2023 lineup poster below.
This year marks the 69th anniversary of the Newport Jazz festival. The 2022 edition included sets from Nubya Garcia, Makaya McCraven, Sons of Kemet, Esperanza Spalding, Angelique Kidjo’s Remain in Light, Terence Blanchard, BadBadNotGood, and others. In 2021, the Newport Jazz Festival returned following a COVID-19-related cancellation the previous year.
