Juanes Returns to Top 10 on Latin Pop Airplay Chart

Juanes is back in the top 10 on Billboard’s Latin Pop Airplay chart as “Cecilia,” his second collab with Dominican bachata giant Juan Luis Guerra, lifts 12-9 on the July 8-dated list. The song is one of 11 tracks on his 11th studio album Vida Cotidiana, a set of personal post-pandemic tunes, released via Universal Music Latino on May 19.

“Cecilia,” an ode to his wife, was composed by both Juanes and Guerra, and written and produced alongside his pianist, Emmanuel Briceño and Sebastián Krys. According to Luminate, the Caribbean rhythm-permeated song cracks the top 10 barrier with 1.85 million audience impressions, a 29% gain, earned in the week ending June 29.

“Cecilia” gives Juanes his 29th top 10 on Latin Pop Airplay, dating back to the No. 10-peaking “Nada” in 2001. With the new top 10 on his career account, the pop/rock singer-songwriter ties with Luis Miguel and Maná for the fifth-most among male acts since the chart launched in 1994. Here’s the leaderboard:

45, Enrique Iglesias
42, Ricky Martin
30, Chayanne
30, Cristian Castro
29, Juanes
29, Luis Miguel
29, Maná

Among Juanes’ 29 entries in the upper region on Latin Pop Airplay, 11 hit No. 1, including “Me Enamora” which dominated for 21 weeks (between 2007-08), the fifth-most ruler among the 319 songs which have arrived at the summit since the chart’s inception.

Guerra, meanwhile, captures his 19th top 10. The new entry follows the No. 16-peaking “Dios Así Lo Quiso,” with Ricardo Montaner (2021).
