Candy Claws have announced a 10th anniversary vinyl reissue of their third and final album, Ceres & Calypso in the Deep Time. The new release includes a dual-mono instrumental edition of the album and a bonus CD containing a brand new song called “Distortion Spear,” recorded by the band’s original lineup. It’s the group’s first new music in 10 years. The LP is due out August 4 via Twosyllable.
Of the reissue, singer Ryan Hover said in a statement:
If it had all just gone into the ether, and been forgotten about, then we might have some regrets. But for some reason, there was just some spark on this one that people are still connecting with. It still feels like a really exciting thing to dive into.
In 2015, Karen Hover and Ryan Hover of Candy Claws joined the Apples in Stereo’s Robert Schneider, Ben Phelan, and John Ferguson, as well as Jacob Graham of the Drums, for a new project called Sound of Ceres. Their last album was 2022’s Emerald Sea.
