On the latest edition of WWE RAW, The War Raiders defeated The Judgment Day to claim the World Tag Team titles. Finn Balor and JD McDonagh had previously won the titles in June by defeating The Awesome Truth, which included The Miz and R-Truth. The current Women’s World Champion, Liv Morgan, played a pivotal role in helping Balor and McDonagh secure the titles. Since their win, the duo have defended the titles only twice.
In September, they retained the titles against The New Day on RAW. Two months later, they successfully defended themselves against The War Raiders with assistance from the Judgment Day members Dominik Mysterio and Carlito. This marked their third title defense since June.
However, this time, The War Raiders shocked the World Tag Team Championship by defeating them. The final moments of the match saw Damian Priest intervene. Balor had attempted to use a chair, but Priest stopped him from bringing it into the ring.
Priest’s surprise interference allowed Ivar to clothesline McDonagh down in the ring. The War Raiders then hit Balor, who was distracted by Priest, with their signature War Machine move to secure the win. After their shocking victory, the new World Tag Team Champions broke their silence to reflect on their monumental achievement.
The War Raiders share their emotional thoughts after winning on WWE RAW
After the show, The War Raiders’ Ivar and Erik were interviewed by Jackie Redmond in an exclusive segment. Ivar spoke about the challenges and hardships they faced throughout their careers.
Ivar stated, “The setbacks and the heartaches and the disappointments and the failures and the surgeries, just everything that we’ve been through, and to be here tonight. We’re in my hometown, we’re in Boston, in front my family and my friends, and to be here, it couldn’t be more emotional and just perfect for me.”
Erik then reflected on the struggles they overcame. He recalled moments over the last five to ten years when both of them were told they might “never wrestle again.” He stated, “Through all that, we’re still here. Through all that, we have these. I don’t think there is anything that I could ever say to encapsulate what that means to us as performers, as professionals, or as people.”
The War Raiders have captured the WWE Tag Team Titles for the second time in their careers. Now, it remains to be seen how this reign unfolds for them in the coming months.
