Max has officially announced the development of a new The Big Bang Theory spin-off, based on CBS’ fan-favorite sitcom, which ended its 12-season run four years ago. The project hails from the original series’ creator Chuck Lorre and Warner Bros. Television.

Further details about the plot and characters of the untitled spin-off are currently under wraps. It will be executive produced by Lorre through his Chuck Lorre Productions banner as part of his overall deal with WBTV.

The upcoming project isn’t the only spin-off derived from the world of The Big Bang Theory. The first one is the CBS prequel Young Sheldon, which chronicles Sheldon Cooper’s younger years living in East Texas with his family. The hit show is currently airing its sixth season.

The Big Bang Theory was one of the longest-running multi-camera series in television history, with the series amassing a total of 279 episodes. It starred Jim Parsons as Sheldon, Johnny Galecki as Leonard, Kaley Cuoco as Penny, Simon Helberg as Howard, Kunal Nayyar as Raj, Mayim Bialik as Amy, and Melissa Rauch as Bernadette. During its run, it successfully won multiple Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor for Parsons’ memorable performance.

All episodes of The Big Bang Theory are available for streaming on Max in the U.S.
