This Is Us alum Milo Ventimiglia has signed on to join the cast of the I Can Only Imagine 2 movie, which serves as the sequel to the 2018 biographical drama of the same name. The Emmy nominee is set to portray the role of singer/songwriter Tim Timmons.

I Can Only Imagine 2 is directed by Brent McCorkle and Andrew Erwin from a screenplay written by McCorkle. Ventimiglia will join returning cast members John Michael Finley as Bart Millard, Dennis Quaid as Arthur, Trace Adkins as MercyMe’s manager Scott Brickell. The sequel is produced by Millard, Erwin, Kevin Downes, Cindy Bond, Daryl Lefever, and Joshua Walsh. It is a production by Lionsgate and Kingdom Story Company.

The 2018 movie centered around the life of MercyMe lead singer Bart Millard. During its theatrical run, it received commercial success with a total gross of $86 million at the worldwide box office against a reported budget of $7 million. The cast also included Madeline Carroll, Gianna Simone, Priscilla Shirer, Tanya Clarke, and the late Cloris Leachman.
