Hulu Schedule Additions: New TV & Movies Arriving September 12-18

The fifth run of The Handmaid’s Tale is about to start at Hulu.

On Wednesday, September 14, the streaming service will release the first two installments in The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5. New episodes will follow weekly. The series is adapted from the award-winning, best-selling novel of the same name by Margaret Atwood. It currently stars Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actress Elisabeth Moss, as well as Yvonne Strahovski, Samira Wiley, Ann Dowd, Max Minghella, Madeline Brewer, O-T Fagbenle, and Amanda Brugel.

“June faces consequences for killing Commander Waterford while struggling to redefine her identity and purpose,” reads the synopsis. “The widowed Serena attempts to raise her profile in Toronto as Gilead’s influence creeps into Canada. Commander Lawrence works with Nick and Aunt Lydia as he tries to reform Gilead and rise in power. June, Luke, and Moira fight Gilead from a distance as they continue their mission to save and reunite with Hannah.”

The Handmaid’s Tale comes to Hulu from MGM Television and is created, executive produced, and written by Bruce Miller. The show is executive produced by Warren Littlefield, Elisabeth Moss, Daniel Wilson, Fran Sears, and Ilene Chaiken. Margaret Atwood serves as a co-executive producer for season three of the series. MGM serves as the international distributor for the series.
