HBO Max Renamed, May Release Date Revealed for Revamp

HBO Max will soon be a relic of the past as Warner Bros. Discovery announced today that the streaming service is being rebranded and will no longer feature the HBO name.

The renamed HBO Max, which will simply be called Max, will feature content from both HBO Max and Discovery+, thus combining the company’s two streaming services. It will launch later next month on May 23.

As far as pricing goes, there will be an ad-supported tier will be the entry-level option at $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year. The ad-free version will then cost $15.99 per month or $149.99 per year. Finally, a premium option featuring 100 offline downloads, Dolby Atmos sound, and 4K UHD resolution streaming will cost $19.99 per month or $199.99 per year.

Current HBO Max subscribers will maintain access and be charged the same price. Their profiles and watch history will also continue over. Meanwhile, Discovery+ subscribers will not be impacted and will be given the opportunity to upgrade to Max.
