Zaya Wade has left her mark as a young style icon to watch. The 15-year-old star and daughter of NBA legend Dwyane Wade made a refreshingly cool appearance at Miu Miu on Oct. 4 during Paris Fashion Week. She appeared in a plaid iteration of the brand’s viral micro skirt and cropped denim jacket embossed with the Miu Miu logo. While her look appears to be custom, it’s inspired by the spring 2022 collection, which put the low-rise skirt trend back on our radar.

Just as styled on the runway, Wade let her underwear peek out over her waistline. Looking all manners of casually elegant, she completed her ensemble with white loafers, dark frames, and the Matelassé Nappa leather top-handle bag in a sandy brown shade. The rising fashion icon joined other stars at the event, including Chloe Bailey, who styled an ivory satin bra top under a red-patterned miniskirt suit; Alexa Chung, who donned a ’60s-inspired bedazzled minidress under a leather blazer; and Keke Palmer, who conveyed regal elegance in a navy coat dress finished with a languid scarf.

Miu Miu’s spring 2023 collection expanded on the sportswear theme of previous seasons, offering fresh layering ideas — from beige sweaters worn over gray jumpers to utilitarian rain jackets styled on their own with nothing underneath. The low-rise skirt made a return in the same lengths as before, but they were rendered in new fabrics, and most of them came with two bulging pockets on the front. Miuccia Prada teamed them with matching bra tops and cable-knit sweaters.

There were also boxy leather vests and blazers, wrinkled separates, and embellished garments. With its overall simplicity, the 64-look runway could’ve passed for a continuation of Prada’s spring 2023 catwalk, which boasted work-ready onesies and other office silhouettes as the items du jour. It didn’t offer anything new, so much as hone Miu Miu’s traditional house codes, but it will undoubtedly be a commercial success.
