David Jonsson has landed another major movie role, coming fresh off his casting as the next Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The British actor will headline the voice cast of the upcoming animated family adventure Bollywoof.
Jonsson will star alongside Oscar winner and Secret Invasion star Olivia Colman, The Big Bang Theory alum Kunal Nayyar, Rhys Ifans, Sanjeev Bhaskar, and Ambika Mod. Directed by Frederik Du Chau, Bollywoof follows Basil, an uptight British Springer Spaniel who becomes separated from his family after accidentally being placed on the wrong flight to India.
The film’s synopsis reads, “Basil, a very British Springer Spaniel, is living his best doggy life with his favourite human, 11-year-old Luke Price, in the tranquil Yorkshire countryside. However, Basil’s idyllic existence is about to change forever as the Prices relocate halfway across the world to Mumbai for work.”
Stranded far from home, Basil joins forces with Santosh, a streetwise stray dog obsessed with Bollywood, and Uma, a feisty sacred cow. Together, they travel across India while trying to get Basil back to his family.

Jonsson has quickly built an impressive resume across television and film. He first gained wider attention playing investment banker Gus Sackey in HBO and BBC’s Industry. He later took on the lead role of Dom in the romantic comedy Rye Lane. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and earned strong reviews for its performances and direction.
Genre fans may know Jonsson best for his role as Andy in Fede Álvarez’s Alien: Romulus. His performance as the synthetic character allowed him to show both his comedic timing and dramatic range. The role helped establish him as one of Britain’s rising young actors.
