Bruce Springsteen Opens Post-Election Concert With “Fighting Prayer for My Country”

Bruce Springsteen took the stage in Toronto on Wednesday for a post-election concert that was equal parts defiant and cathartic.

Springsteen opened the set with “Long Walk Home,” a song that he described as a” fighting prayer for my country.” Taken from his 2007 album Magic, “Long Walk Home” explores themes of disillusionment and America’s abandonment of freedom, decency, and civil liberties.

From there, Springsteen and the E Street Band performed “Land of Hope and Dreams” with an outro tag of “People Get Ready”; “Lonesome Day”; “Adam Raised a Cain”; “Better Days”; “The Promised Land”; “Reason to Believe”; and “Darkness on the Edge of Town.”

Springsteen had endorsed Kamala Harris for president. In doing so, he called Donald Trump “most dangerous candidate for president in my lifetime.” The New Jersey rocker also performed at a pair of campaign rallies on behalf of Harris.
