Fontaines D.C. have teamed up with English filmmaker Andrea Arnold for a “Bug” music video. The song, taken from their new album, Romance, comes to life in the Arnold-directed clip, which features footage from her upcoming movie Bird, starring Barry Keoghan and the band’s own Carlos O’Connell, among others. Watch it below.
“Andrea Arnold was kind enough to cut up a sequence to our tune ‘Bug’ featuring Barry Keoghan playing the character Bug in her new movie Bird,” said O’Connell. “‘Bug’ is a song that happened quickly and convinced everyone quicker. In my eyes, the character Bug, the tattoo “Bug’s Life,” Andrea’s essential & romantic worlds, and the line ‘Changed my name to “Promise you, Yea”’; when put all together make convincing needless & conviction undeniable. Big thanks to Andrea Arnold for letting us in so close to her visionary universe. She’ll be remembered how we remember Bacon or Goya.”
Bird is Arnold’s fifth feature-length movie and follows 2016’s American Honey. It also stars Franz Rogowski and Nykiya Adams, and is slated to come out this Friday, November 8.
Fontaines D.C. are currently on the road in support of Romance. The massive tour brings them across Europe through the end of this year, before they head over to Japan, Australia, South America, and North America in 2025.
