One of the World’s most eternal songs ever written and recorded is the Jackie DeShannon hit “Put A Little Love In Your Heart.” A group of small and talented children ages 6 to 9 collaborated and formed The King Moore Unity Project for the purpose of re-mixing the song and recording it for the newest generations to celebrate. Although the words were changed slightly from the original the sentiment remains constant. The enduring tune is charming, churning, emotionally charged, and inspiring to the human spirit.
The children of the project are 9 year old Royal Rose, 6 year old Nova Starr, and the rest fit in between, Kanary Yellow, DJ Kid Cool, Kash Mania, Lake Anthony and King Moore at age 8. The children were randomly chosen from various social media platforms (even the ones who were not necessarily singers) by producer 2x Grammy winner Tony Mercedes who wanted the children to believe that they could do anything they wanted….and they proved it with their unstoppable momentum and their belief in the words of the song.
Royal Rose, Lake Anthony and King Moore appeared at the Crossroads of the world Times Square in celebration of the 40th anniversary of International Peace Day established by the United Nations in 1984. They performed “Put A Little Live In Your Heart” live on stage and streamed worldwide. Their video and song produced by Tony Mercedes, Verlin Moore and Sean McMillion and directed by Marcelo Nine manages to balance it’s overwhelming density of emotions, textures, and colors with a warm intimacy that blankets the devastating geopolitical and social chaos of the planet.
Eight year old King Moore is a singer/songwriter, producer, model, fashion designer, actor and an anti-gun violence advocate who was invited to Washington DC to speak on the problem of gun violence in our schools. He has already appeared in several movies, an AT&T commercial, the nationally syndicated talk show Tamron Hall, and the lake night talk show “Profiles With Mickey Burns.” He talks about children being 100 percent our future and his mantra is “It’s nice to be important but it’s more important to be nice.”
The origin of “Put A Little Love In Your Heart” actually came from Ms. DeShannon’s mom who always said “when times are bad put a little love in your heart.” It was written by Grammy winner and Song Writer’s Hall of Fame inductee Jackie DeShannon, her beloved brother Randy Myers and legend Jimmy Holiday. It was released by Jackie in 1969 and became an iconic hit instantly. It has been covered by hundreds of artists including Annie Lennox, Dolly Parton, Anne Murray, The Dave Clark Five, Andy Williams, David Ruffin, Cilla Black, The Isley Bros., Al Green, Leonard Nimoy, Amy Grant and a parade of others. It was used during this year’s Olympics, and in the film “Scrooged.”
