Shakira, Karol G, Bad Bunny, Rosalía, and More Nominated for

Bad Bunny, Shakira, Rosalía, and Karol G are all among this year’s Latin Grammy Awards nominees. Now in its 24th year, the ceremony happens on Thursday, November 16, at the Conference and Exhibition Centre in Sevilla, Spain—the first time the awards have been held outside of the United States. Find all of the nominees here.

The Record of the Year nominees include Rosalía’s “Despechá,” Karol G’s “Mientras Me Curo del Cora,” and Shakira’s collaboration with Bizarrap. “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” picked up another nod for Song of the Year, where Shakira has two other nominations via Karol G’s “TQG” and her own “Acróstico.” “TQG” is also up for Song of the Year, Best Urban/Fusion Performance, and Best Urban Song, with Karol G in the running for Album of the Year, Best Reggaeton Performance, and Best Urban Music Album.

Bad Bunny has a handful of nominations this year via guest appearances on Grupo Frontera’s “Un X100to” (Song of the Year, Best Regional Song), Eladio Carrión’s “Coco Chanel” (Best Rap/Hip Hop Song), and Arcángel’s “La Jumpa” (Best Urban Fusion/Performance, Best Urban Song). As performed by Peso Pluma and Eslabon Armado, Pedro Julian Tovar Oceguera’s “Ella Baila Sola” is up for two songwriting awards: Song of the Year and Best Regional Song.

The Latin Recording Academy announced in February that it had been working with officials in the province of Andalucía to relocate the program, suggesting the capital city of Sevilla as a possible host city. The three-year agreement entails a broad slate of programming, reportedly to include new Acoustic Sessions recordings, a Latin Grammy Week, and unspecified “philanthropic activities.”

In parallel with the Recording Academy’s recent expansion of the playing field for the general Grammys, the LRA also added three new categories to the Latin Grammys for 2023: Best Songwriter of the Year, Best Singer-Songwriter Song, and Best Portuguese-Language Urban Performance. Italian singer Laura Pausini is this year’s Latin Recording Person of the Year honoree, with Lifetime Achievement Awards going to Carmen Linares, Mijares, Arturo Sandoval, Simone, Soda Stereo, and Ana Torroja.

Last year’s Latin Grammys held forth at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, with performances from Rauw Alejandro, Christina Aguilera, Karol G, Anitta, and more. In addition to performing “Hentai” and “La Fama,” Rosalía took home several awards for Motomami, including Album of the Year, Best Alternative Music Album, Best Engineered Album, and Best Recording Package. She followed those wins with another one in February, when she took home the Best Latin Rock or Alternative Music Album Grammy.
