Jlin Announces Mini-Album Perspective, Shares New Song

Jlin has announced a mini-album called Perspective, comprising electronic versions of her Pulitzer-nominated tracks with Third Coast Percussion. It’s out September 29 on CD, LP, and digitally, via Planet Mu. Listen to “Fourth Perspective” below.

Of the collaboration, Jlin said in a press release, “Working with T.C.P. was a rewarding experience. I love their constant driving ambition. When I would go to their studio we would experiment as much as we could, and that to me is the beauty of composing.”

Jlin’s last extended release was the EP Embryo in 2021. The Indiana producer has not yet released a studio follow-up to 2017 landmark Black Origami, though the Wayne McGregor dance soundtrack Autobiography came out the following year. Third Coast Percussion, who collaborate widely across contemporary classical, have worked with the likes of Steve Reich and Blood Orange’s Devonté Hynes.

Jlin will be performing live at Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago on Friday July 21, 2023. Tickets are on sale now.
