When Chainsaw Man Episode 1 Releases

Chainsaw Man Episode 1’s release date is on Tuesday, October 11. The episode will air in Japan on Wednesday, October 12, at midnight JST.

Crunchyroll is simulcasting the series. As of writing, there are no updates from Crunchyroll regarding the official airtime on their platform. The episode with English subtitles will be available one hour after it airs in Japan. In the United States, the corresponding times are:

About the Series

Chainsaw Man is a manga series created by Tatsuki Fujimoto. Shueisha began the serialization of the manga in 2018. So far, the manga is divided into two parts. The first part is under Weekly Shonen Jump. Meanwhile, Part 2 is currently in Shonen Jump+, Shueisha’s online platform. Viz Media handles the English release. The manga won a Shogakukan Manga Award and a Harvey Award in 2021.

MAPPA is producing the anime adaptation. Ryuu Nakayama (Jujutsu Kaisen) is directing the series. Hiroshi Seko (Attack on Titan) is writing the screenplay. The opening theme is titled “Kick Back” by Kenshi Yonezu. The show will have 12 ending themes, with a different artist performing per episode.

Chainsaw Man happens in a world where Devils exist. Humans can have contracts with Devils so they can possess their abilities. At the same time, some humans hunt them as well. The story follows a teenager named Denji, who works as a Devil Hunter to pay off his father’s debt. After an incident with the yakuza, Denji passes away. However, his Devil dog Pochita forms a contract with him. Denji becomes part human and part devil with the ability to transform parts of him into chainsaws. Shortly after, a woman named Makima recruits him into Public Safety, an organization of Devil Hunters hired by the government.
